Sims never go to work/school/university, no go to work button

OK, first off thank you for all you do, these games are so awesome and I am so grateful for all you have done.

But I have a very odd problem. I cannot get any Sim to go to work/school /university. There is NO go to work button on the job panel (the tab showing working hours and conditions). Again, it's not that the button doesn't work, there is NO button on the job tab and there's not one on the phone either, and there's no option to force them leave for work by left/right clicking on my Sim.

They just stand around and miss work/school/gigs/etc. for no reason. It happens on every single day, every single Sim, every single job, no matter what age/when/where my sim is.

I have switched jobs, neighborhoods, Uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times, removed and disabled all mods/cc (currently no cc or mods at all) and yet the sims still sit around the house instead of leaving when the time hits. I don't even get that "Work is in 1 hour" message either. For me, half the fun is in working and I absolutely was desperate to get my Sim into university. I was so excited, but now I can't do anything.

Anyway, I just absolutely have no idea what is wrong with it. Is anyone else having this issue? Please can anybody help me?

    Hi @Gypsygrrl86

have you tried renaming your user folder yet ?

If not, try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • This happened to me with the Get Famous pack too! My sims wouldn't go for gigs even if I did all the necessary preparations for it but they were able to go for auditions.

Did you try repairing the game? I'm not a professional at this but I'm just trying to help however I can !

It happens every single time, and I've started dozens of new games, but they all have the same problem. But I haven't tried auditions, so I don't know if those work or not, but no matter what is wrong I don't know how to repair it. That's why I'm asking for help.

  • @crinrict It worked!

Still no button, but a bubble popped up and asked if I wanted to join my detective on his first day of work and I did! I didn't realize how awesome the job system is, since I couldn't do it before. But now it's great!
