@d5de23deb497ea0d Your dxdiag lists a few generic Windows update errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
When you updated your graphics driver, did you specifically use Display Driver Uninstaller? If not, please do so now. Your dxdiag also lists some serious crashes of the graphics driver, but the errors aren't timestamped, so I don't know whether they happened before or after you updated the driver, or both. Here's how to use DDU:
If you used any other method, even one that should be reliable, please use DDU anyway just to be as thorough as possible.
If this doesn't or didn't help, please try again to play Sims 4, let it freeze or crash, and look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor. Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day. Today is on the right.
Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to play Sims 4. If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here. If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
Thank you so much for your response!! I posted a reply earlier tonight but now I cant find it, so if you see this twice just ignore one of the replies.
I tried all off your suggestions (I used GeForce experience when I did it the last time) so I did it again today using DDU. Unfortunately the game froze after a while anyway. I will attach the PowerShell print screens and a print from the reliability and problem history.
Extra info:
- I tried playing The Sims medieval last night to se if other games worked, and it did for a few hours but then it crashed.
- I looked at the reliability and problem history and all errors from 19/10 to today are in connection with playing The Sims 4 (and Medieval yesterday).
- The first error from 14/10 was "Windows was not properly shut down", but this was before I got the computer. I am in contact with the previous owner if any other details is needed.
Last error (today) details:
The program TS4_x64.exe version 1.110.265.1030 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
