I'm not a computer-savvy myself so this crashing problem definitely frustrates me so much but your solution #2 definitely works for me so thank you! Unfortunately.. i lost all my saves so i have to start playing the game from zero and lost all my families.. so sad huhu but i think that's what's causing the problem
