StrangerVille taking ages to download
As the title says, StrangerVille is taking hours and hours to download, despite my internet's (wired broadband connection) download speed being more than adequate - just tested it at roughly 94Mbps. Origin's reported download speed for the pack keeps yo-yoing, rising to barely 500 KB and dropping all the way down to 0, then slowly crawling back up again after several seconds.
I have never had such trouble downloading a pack before, and I own all of them except for JA. Even the last EP Get Famous took less than an hour to download and install.
Steps I've taken to try and resolve the issue:
Made sure absolutely nothing was running in the background
Paused, waited, then un-paused the download
Repeatedly exited out of Origin and restarted my computer
Unistalled and reinstalled Origin
Booted my computer in safe mode
Tried opening the R&D version of Origin (switched back)
Allowed beta Origin
Turned on "Safe mode downloading" in Origin
I have read multiple threads on the subject, on all sorts of forums, and this has been a problem for years. Apparently Battlefield players were having the same problem just a few months ago. What is wrong with Origin, and when will it ever be fixed?
Nope, it took nearly 6 hours, but it finally downloaded. About 50% through, the dl speed decided to stop yo-yoing, and kept up a relative speed of 400 KB, and reached a high of 1 Mbps. Not ideal, but at least it downloaded.
