Sudden choppy lag spikes out of nowhere.

Hi,

Lately i've noticed choppy lag that comes out of nowhere. I turned off my gallery and it helped a bit, but then it came back. Now I've put on laptop mode and the game is what smoother, but the spikes still pop up out of nowhere.

It's the type of lag that comes out of nowhere and lasts a few seconds.

Here's a video of what it looks like:

These are my settings and setup:

  • @28s87cm7gcj2  Is there any pattern to the lag?  For example, does it happen at the same sim-time(s) of day, or when you're playing on a certain lot or in a certain world?  Please test if you haven't already.  Please also test in a new save, for comparison's sake.  And if you use mods, test without them.  You don't need to save your progress.

Also I'd like to see a dxdiag as well.  You can attach one to a reply here.

    Hey,

I can't say for certainty as to when it occurs, but it just does every once in a while. It mainly happens when I'm on my residential lot which is Brindleton bay. I do indeed have mods, but at the minimum, I believe I only have Mc commandcenter and such. I believe my PC would be powerful enough to handle The SIms 4 at ultra, no?

Nonetheless, you can find my Dxdiag attached to my comment, thanks for the help! 🙂

@28s87cm7gcj2  Your computer should be able to handle ultra settings, and even having to resort to laptop mode for smooth play would be a problem.  The reason I asked about a new save is to see whether this is an overall game issue or more specific, for example just this save or the lot.  So please do test a new save just to see what happens.

MCCC shouldn't cause this kind of lag, at least not when you're simply moving the camera around with the game paused.  But please test with no mods at all, to be thorough.

On a separate note, did you recently reinstall Windows?  I ask because your dxdiag lists no errors at all, which is very unusual.  If this isn't a fresh install, that suggests that Windows can't read the error report data, which in turn suggests a system issue that should be addressed.
