I've tested this on my game and while I don't know about the aspiration (could be normal as @jpkarlsen says as you weren't playing them at the time), I don't have the issue with the Ask if Single interaction. The other Sim is counting as my Sims boyfriend and is saying so.
Is this a new relationship or did you do it before the propose bug was fixed ? Are you using mods/cc ?
