Since a couple of days the screen gets darker when the game starts. The start page and the in game is much darker.

I have not changed any settings so i dont know what is wrong, anyone else has this problem?

The game is playable but the experience is dragged down.

  • Are you able to upload images of this? Are you using a laptop which is set to dim when using high amounts of power?

Well i turned of the optimal mode on Geforce Experience and i have top prestanda on everything but it stays the same. As soon as i start the game the screen get dimmed. I have not channge any settings anywhere.

And yes, im using a laptop with Geforce GTX 1660 Ti graphic card.

  • So when i change to window instead of full screen mode the dimming stops. So how do I fix this?

    Any ideas?

@sebbswe  Click on the battery icon in the lower right corner of your screen, and move the slider all the way to the right (best performance).  And make sure you're playing with the laptop plugged in.

    Hi, thanks for posting.

I've tried everything but its not just Sims 4 its all games - its perfect in window mode but get dark in full screen mode.

I have no idea what to do - ive searched everywhere for some answers but nothing have worked so far.

@sebbswe  Right, so this is a system issue, likely something to do with power saving or fullscreen optimization or something similar.  Did changing the energy settings not make a difference?  You can try disabling fullscreen optimization:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/104080-enable-disable-fullscreen-optimizations-windows-10-a.html

If that doesn't help, disable Game Mode as well:  Hit Windows key-i, select Gaming, then Game Mode, and disable the option at the top.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Hi, sorry for my late respond.

Ive tried everything with the energy settings - my computor is now running on optimal mode with the highest settings on everything with the screen brightness and battery/network.

So i dont even have an sims.exe file  - i cannot find it. Should i reinstall the game?

I tried the link for Diablo 3 which has the same problem but it did not change anything.

Im exhausted from this. Do you know why this happend? It was fine like a week ago.

@sebbswe  You're looking for TS4_64.exe, which will be in the game's program files.  Unless you changed the default install location in Origin, the full file path will be:

    Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

If this doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.  There are plenty of reasons why this could have happened, but it's useless to speculate without more information, and the dxdiag will provide at least some of that information.

    Hi, thanks for yout help.

I got tired of trying to fix it so i did a reset the computor to the last recovery point before the last windows update and now its back to normal.

So its something in the update that creates the problem.

    Thank you again.
