The sims 4 and the EA app won t open

I installed Sims 4 today, I opened the game right after installation to check and everything was working fine, but then I closed my game and tried to reopen it and the game won't open, I tried to repair it through the EA App but it doesn't open either

  • @SunligthDust  What happens when you try to open the game: do you get an error message, do you briefly see a game window, etc.?  Are you launching Sims 4 through a desktop shortcut?  Because if so, perhaps the only issue is that the EA App won't open, but I'm not sure that's the case from your description.

For the EA App itself, try setting an exception for EADesktop.exe in your antivirus, if you have one, and add TS4_x64.exe while you're at it.  If you only use Windows Defender, check whether Controlled Folder Access is enabled, and set those same exceptions if it is.  (Don't enable it if it's not already running.)  This guide covers CFA and a couple other programs:

You can also run an App recovery without opening the App itself:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If none of this helps, please let me know what happens when you try to open the EA App.  If the App works but Sims 4 doesn't, please describe what you see when you try to play.

@The_Real_Marooo  Does the EA App open normally for you, or not?  If not, what do you see when you try to open it?  Please post a screenshot or two, including any error message you get.

@JiaisdeAd  What happens when you open the EA App?  Please post a screenshot of any error or other weirdness you see.  If the App isn't working properly, Sims 4 won't either, regardless of whether there's a problem with the game itself.

  • The same thing is happening to me. I've had the game for years but a few weeks ago, when I opened my computer, my EA app was suddenly missing. When I found it, I tried to open it, but it just would not open. I didn't get any error messages or anything, the app just would not open. I would click over and over but nothing. I did all the things that usually force an app to open but it wouldn't open no matter what I tried. After a bit of googling, I decided to uninstall the app. When I reinstalled it, it seemed to work fine. It opened when I clicked, and I could play the game. For the first two times I opened the app. Then it was back to not opening at all. It has been like that ever since. I will uninstall and then reinstall, the app with open the first time and the second time I try. Then nothing. I also can't open the game by clicking on the icon anymore, I have to go through the EA app. So, I've been basically unable to play the game for weeks now because it is tiring doing the same thing every time I want to play the game again. I do have custom content, but no script mods and I've deleted almost everything. My computer is old but there is a good amount of storage left and it is updated. I've tried all the fixes people suggest online but nothing works. At this point, I'm really tired of doing all this work for just a game. I really wish the developers would address this and fix it because I just can't play anymore and that really sucks

@vivianray4  The EA App issue sounds like it's caused by an overzealous antivirus.  So please uninstall and reinstall the App, and then before using it (aside from when it opens for the first time), set an exception in your antivirus for EADesktop.exe.

The Sims 4 issue may be entirely due to the EA App issue.

I was having a jolly old time playing my sims, and it just froze so i saved it and then it actually froze and didn't close unless i force quit it. I tried to open it again but it would bounce once and not open, same thing with the EA app itself. I even tried reinstalling but it still won't open at all.

@Iheartryli  Do you play in Windows or macOS?  I can move your post to the Mac tech forum if necessary.

Either way, it would help to know whether moving the Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop makes a difference.
