I reinstalled all The Sims 4 games on my PC thinking that when I went to press the play button it would actually work. But it doesn't. It just goes back to the main screen and that is it. Can someone explain step by step instructions for this not to keep happening? Thank you.
@BellaChaos As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.
If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@BellaChaos My first paragraph was a step-by-step description of one possible fix for this issue. I need to know whether it helps or not in order to proceed. If it doesn't, then please provide the dxdiag, which is not a troubleshooting step but rather a system report I can read.
