Too Many Issues to Enjoy the Game

I own The Sims 4: Digital Deluxe Edition and the Seasons Expansion pack; both of which were downloaded through Origin. I have no MODS and no CC.

I'm a PC user; here are my specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • System Type: 64-bit OS, x64-based processor
  • Processor: Intel Celeron N2820
  • RAM: 8 GB (7.89 GB available)

I have had nothing but problems with this game since I bought it. At first I was using it on another laptop and it was slow, and kept freezing/crashing, but now I have other issues with it since switching computers. The problems just keep multiplying!

  1. I have to open and close the game at least three times to be able to click on the 'Load Game' button; otherwise I can I only click on the big play button, which only loads the last game I played.
  2. I can't select 'Pebble Burrow' in Oasis Springs more often than not, even if there's no one living there or if my active sim is living there.
  3. Sims are walking through countertops and walls; it doesn't matter if it's household members or visitors. I've tried resetting my every sim in the household, their visitors, and even the counters (all at the same time), but it still doesn't fix the problem. I've even made a new sim, moved them into a completely different lot, and one day they'll just start walking through stuff.
  4. It's a miracle (and pain) to get Father Winter to give my sims a present. Forget about it if it's a Toddler...
  5. I can't use the shower/tub combos, because, while the tub works fine, the shower doesn't. The sims will step in and go through the animations of showering, but their hygiene level stays unchanged. In fact, they've recently just started getting stuck in a perpetual shower. If I don't cancel the action, they'll just keep showering even though it's not doing anything for them.
  6. I'm having trouble clicking on things in CAS. It's hard to explain, but let's say I want to add makeup:
    1. I can't click on the makeup button directly. I have to move the mouse around the icon until I can get the option to select it--usually about a quarter of an inch away from the icon.
    2. Now let's say that I want to select something like Face Paint; I won't be able to select items in any categories that don't have enough items in it to scroll down.
    3. If there is enough items in a category, let's say jewelry, I can't change the color unless I scroll to just above the color bar. But then I can't see the color or pattern unless I click on it to change it on my sim.
  7. The recycling garbage bin will stop working. My sims will pick up the garbage, but then drop the bag back on the floor. First tried to reset the garbage can, then the can and sims, but the only thing that would work is if I reset the garbage pile a couple of times. The problem is that it just starts all over again the next time the sims go to throw something out.
  8. It also takes a while for the graphics to load. There's no detail and blurry.
  9. If I open the gallery before I load a game, I won't be able to load a game at all.
  10. Some lots downloaded from the Gallery are missing the entire first floor, and are glitchy even when placed with all the bb enabled, including move objects.

And that's just what I can think of off of the top of my head. I'm tired of having to use these work arounds, and constantly restarting the game. I paid too much money for this game to be having this much difficulty with it after only a month.

And yes, I've tried resetting the game and repairing it in Origins.

I'm extremely frustrated, because I keep seeing all these gamers on YouTube playing this game with all the packs, MODs, and CC; but they don't have the same problems that I do. It must be so nice to be able to enjoy this game...

  • @SimplicityTS  Other people may be able to address some of the gameplay issues you listed; I don't really know how to troubleshoot most of those.  But what's clear is that your processor is a bit weak for Sims 4, even on low settings; its integrated graphics chip is clearly below the minimum requirements.  Seasons is a very heavy pack and will tax stronger hardware than yours, but even the base game can be too much for some laptops with your CPU.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of the issues you listed are directly due to your hardware, although it's sometimes difficult to tell for sure.  The blurry graphics are likely an issue with your graphics chip or its driver.  Intel doesn't even offer a current Windows 10 driver for your processor, although the manufacturer of your laptop may still offer one for download.  Plus, this computer is five or six years old by now, so it may well be declining in performance due to age alone.

If you do want to troubleshoot your in-game issues, please start by confirming that your install is up to date.  The problem with showering not raising hygiene in shower/tub combos was fixed in the last patch.  The current patch level is 1.60.
