Copy the contents of your saves folder and tray folder. If you use Mods or CC also copy the Mods folder. Normally they are located here: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
wHAT IS THE TRY FOLDER AND HOW CAN YOU PUT THE COPY ONTO ANOTHER COMPUTER?
The Tray folder is where your Sims, houses and community lots are stored. To move that and other Sims 4 files to another computer you can simply copy the Sims 4 folder to a thumb drive and transfer it to the other computer that way.
Then copy the Sims 4 folder from the thumb drive to:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
If you want to break it down further here's what needs to be moved:
- Options.ini (User game settings)
- Tray Folder (Sims/Houses/Commercial lots and rooms)
- Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
- Rest of the save games, if any.
(leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave. It is not used anymore.)
- Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, and makeup
- Mods (Put these back one by one to make sure they all still work)
Hi there, I have tried this but when I open the game it just says start new game. What have I done wrong?
