Trouble adding parent

Microsoft wiped my C drive and although my game was installed on the K drive and the files were saved on the K drive, I lost all of my saved games -- over 840 hours of playing time, videos, scree...

    Hi BlackjackWidow unfortunately all of the games are gone. I know it is highly unusual for a Microsoft tech to do that. That particular tech messed up big time. So, Microsoft spent two weeks rebuilding my computer. And when I took my computer to the Microsoft Store they told me the K drive was intact, but somehow when they reinstalled my image from 2018 files were lost in the process including all of the Sims 4 folder. My Documents folder is still on the K drive tho.

    BTW All -- I did not get a message popping up on my machine, I actually contacted Microsoft directly after the May update and they remote accessed my computer. So, I wasn't contacted by hackers or had a virus or ransomware.

    But I did figure out the issue I was having. Malcolm still has parents listed, although they are blank. So I just added Geoffrey as Malcolm's wife Nessa's father to try to rebuild my generational family that way.

    I was able to do that using the cas full edit mode, as family_parent 739164183140847203 739164182935718089 family_son_daughter didn't work.

As far as the original problem goes, does your K:\ drive still have a Documents folder and the sims 4 files on it? If so, you can probably get all of your stuff back by redirecting The Sims 4 to access the K:\ drive again. The Sims 4 saves to "My Documents". When Windows was reinstalled, it probably reverted to changing your "My Documents" folder back to the C:\ drive. If you find that the folder is on the K:\ drive, but you don't want to change it back, you can just copy the folders and files onto your C:\ drive (in the same folder structure).

      @troshalom Yea, a lot of the direct relationship bit commands don't work. They are severely flaky. I tried using one to set the co-worker bit once, I tried it on 6 sims, it only worked on 2.

      If you can figure out how to do it in CAS, it's usually the best method.

      I have this same problem with lots of my families and I don't know what to do. I tried with the Pleasant twins and I had to delete them as I already created their parents. Then I had to recreate them so I didn't have the same problem. But now I'm trying to do it with the Curious siblings I downloaded from FGG and I have the same issue. Can't add their parents. Hopefully someone can get the solution...
