Open the file in notepad and press ctrl-a to select all and ctrl-c to copy. Then in the answer press ctrl-v to paste. You should use spoiler tags around the text (yellow button).
- 6 years ago@jpkarlsen I tried finding that file and it appears I do not have a lastcrash.txt.

Try to download the C++ files directly from Microsoft. Both x64 and x86 are needed:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4032938/update-for-visual-c-2013-redistributable-package
Install all 4
Also run SFC /scannow - 6 years ago

Hello SIMMER
Try this way and update me please. This is how I got my Sims 4 to work again with that error and another issue occurring from origin.
Go to Origin.com once you sign in (in your browser online) go into game library and select The Sims 4, as always select the play with origin button and you will be asked to download origin....or....launch origin.. choose option 2 if origin is already on your laptop\desktop like most of us here seeking for a solution for this problem. By the way origin is experiencing issues for days now not our computers. PS found that out today actually wasted so much time sigh.. Anyway after origin launches (the app itself will open) and BOOM you're game should be A OK... It will open the origin app and the sims game-play loading and everything. please just continue to be patient it will work now.
Note to self as well because after 3 days I was highly impatient,
but beamed when it finally gave me results! origin app is down so going through your internet browser is the only way for now.
Happy Simming!! - 6 years ago@242tee @jpkarlsen
I've download all of those C++ jp, to no avail still. Attempted to run the SFC/scannow and wasn't able to, but I guess I could be trying that wrong? I hit the window button + R and tried to run it through there but nothing happened.
242tee, I attempted that work around and I still get the same error.
I REALLY appreciate you two trying to get this thing to work by the way. Feeling a little defeated and also ripped off. Never have I had such issues trying to play a game I've purchased. I also bought the City Living DLC with it, not sure if anything with that could be the cause or not. - 6 years ago@jpkarlsen Alright, after some handy dandy googling I found that I needed to run the sfc/scannow from the command prompt, however, when I attempt that it says I must be an administrator to do so. The crazy thing is that I most definitely have administrator privileges. I built this computer and also just verified I am an admin, plus the only user of this computer.
- 6 years ago@jpkarlsen Scratch that, also fixed with a Google search lol. Have to right click on CMD and run as adminstrator.
- 6 years ago@jpkarlsen Really sorry to keep tagging you and adding more messages, weird system they've got on this site lol. Wish I could just edit into my older ones. Anyway, I ran the scannow and it told me "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." Game still doesn't start.

To edit your previous postings click the 3 dots.
This may be a problem with Origins cache. https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
- 6 years ago@jpkarlsen Same error occurs after doing those steps.

Do you start the game from a shortcut or from Origin? If the former start the game from Origin.

It is quite ok,
we are here to help I do understand the frustration I experienced it as well.
And I want you to be able to play you’re game as well. No worries
