Two The Sims 4 folders

I use curseforge for my mods, and I noticed I have The Sims 4 and The Sims 4 2 on there.

Today, I decided to investigate, and I found 2 folders.

They are both in my d drive. One is just in there, and the other is in program files (x86)/origin

One is 59gb, the other 56gb. The origin one is the smaller, so I'm guessing that the other one is the one being used.

I have opened them, and they both have the same folders inside, data, delta, etc

I want to know if it is safe to delete one and if so, which one I should delete.

  • @Nylyssa27  The folder labeled "The Sims 4 2" isn't being used.  The EA App wouldn't read it with the 2 in its name; in fact, you could rename the proper folder to "The Sims 4 2" and the App would think you'd uninstalled the game.

    It only says The Sims 4 2 in the curseforge app.

    In my files they are both labelled The Sims 4.

    So to be clear i have 2 folders that look identical but one is slightly larger than the other.

    @Nylyssa27

    Try to rename one of the folders and start the game. If it starts then the renamed folder is not used.

    @Nylyssa27  Curseforge may have renamed something, but I promise you that the game itself can't read a folder with an extra 2 in its name.

    If you'd like me to look over the contents of these folders, please post screenshots of them, as in, open "The Sims 4" and "The Sims 4 2" and use Windows key-shift-S to capture the contents.  Please include the address bar, above the list of files and folders, in the screenshots.
