University course progress suddenly gone

Additional updates/info on the continuing issue, in case anyone comes along that can provide insight into what happened/how to fix it.

- Before I did anything with the save files (outside of creating a new save for the game when I discovered the problem - the first of that night), I made a copy of my entire saves folder and pasted it in a separate folder.

- I have been trying the "renaming" thing for the saves; deleting the .ver# of each one to save it as just the #.save, and then going in to see.  When I get in, and Boy Sim does not have his uni info, I exit without saving.

- I have gone into the last version available for that number, and it is before Girl Sim graduated and before Boy Sim's first semester ended, BEFORE he transferred universities, and it's the same thing: her school information is in the job panel, but his is not.

- My mods folder is still removed.

I also have NO CLUE how this glitch even happened, and why it's specifically affecting only Boy Sim.  I've tried Googling it, and I seem to be the only person this has happened to, so I'm just at a loss.  This is my first time playing with the university pack, and if half my sims LOSE their progress completely, what's the point?
