I tried all your suggestions but it's still having the same problem. I tried repairing the game in origin library too. Now it's doing this in build mode in all worlds/lots. When I check task manager the ram is taking the most load almost tripling, and I have 16gb of ram. The GPU is also almost doubling in buildmode. Even if I change all the graphics from ultra to low it barely makes much difference either. Both of that is then causing the cpu to overheat. I don't understand though why this is taking up so much memory and graphics when I can run 4k open world games just fine. I'm thinking it's the wedding pack items causing this, like how father winter was causing similar crazy ram issues a long time ago.
@SapphyraSims and @Siluial Please try playing in a clean boot:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-clean-boot-windows-10
Here again, play while your computer is offline and with a clean user folder, just to be as thorough as possible. Additionally, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example RGB software or MSI Afterburner. If you accidentally kill the wrong service and it doesn't restart automatically, just reboot your computer.
If that doesn't help, I'd like to see the results of some hardware monitoring. Download hwinfo from here:
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/
You don't need to install anything if you don't want to; just choose the Portable version, unzip it, and launch it from Downloads or wherever you want. (If you would like to install, be sure to click the button for hwinfo itself, not for lansweeper.) Restart your computer, and don't open any other apps. Launch hwinfo, choose "sensors only," and click the icon that's a sheet of paper with a + sign to start logging. Save the file to your desktop for easy access later.
Wait five minutes, then launch Sims 4 and play for five minutes in one of the base game worlds, in live mode; the idea is to see how the game runs when it's not eating all the system resources. After that, switch to something that's been driving up CPU and RAM use, and play there for at least five minutes. You can keep switching to different modes if you want; just let me know what you did, in what order and for how long, and how your computer behaved.
When you're done, click the same button to end logging. Then upload the log to a third-party free filehosting site and link it here. Please leave it in .csv format, or if you use OneDrive to share, please compress it in .zip format instead.
@Siluial I'd like to see a dxdiag from your computer as well. You can attach one directly to a post.

The Father Winter issue was that the game was stuck in a loop generating FW sims that it couldn't use, potentially creating hundreds of new sims and bogging down the save. Since you brought it up @SapphyraSims , please let me know how large your new save file is by the time you're done testing. The telltale sign of the FW issue was a save that suddenly bloated relative to its older copies. A brand-new save is typically in the 5 MB range, maybe a little more depending on how you play.

So.....
I did not do everything you suggested.
1) I'm just not tech savvy enough and it's all very intimidating. I can troubleshoot pretty well, but the list was long and spiked my anxiety for some reason...
That being said...
2) I did remove that Sims 4 folder and restarted my computer.
3) I opened Origin, started Sims 4 and picked a random family in Tortosa (or whatever it's called) - I did NOT let any of the new content for the delivery download, but all the packs/kits/stuff/expansions were installed.
4) I had a zoom meeting, so I basically just let the game run on auto and left it alone for about 30 minutes -- nothing happened that shouldn't. The rich family in Tortosa just went on about their business while I zoomed.
5) I did not save that game. I shut it down. Turned it all off - went to dinner - computer was shut down...
6) Upon my return, I deleted the OLD Sims 4 folder with all my previously saved games that was on my desktop
7) I deleted the 'newest' Sims 4 folder - the one made from before my dinner
8) I cleaned out my recycle bin, restarted the computer (why? for a clean slate!)
9) I then left my computer on and idling while I showered. You know, to see if anything weird might happen - nope.
10) Started Sims 4 again with a clean slate - allowed deliveries to be made, sat through all the packs making themselves known, etc. Then made a brand new Sim, taking my dear sweet time. Even used 'my stories' to make a second sim to go with the first... About an hour+ later, I put them in a house in one of the original worlds.. (Willow? Something - the one with the tree you can travel through to get to the hidden glade)
11) Played for about an hour: Used the gallery to find a new house to dl. Had them move to an empty lot, put the house in, changed the house up a bit. Got my sims working on a few skills, including getting to know each other.
At this point, nothing was going on that shouldn't. No shutdowns/sleeping modes. Yay! I suspected it was only in Tortusa that the sleep mode happens. Maybe you're not supposed to use those residential lots....
12) So I saved and exited, went to Tortusa (same game mind you) and picked that rich family in the huge house. Thebes? (Same as when I zoomed)
13) Played the five sims for... I dunno 15-20 minutes. Just had them talking... my fans started to churn a bit, but the machine wasn't HOT or anything. I waited for sleep mode to hit because, in the past, soon as the fans started whirring, it took a minute for it to go to sleep. Nothing.
Result? I think I had a corrupted file. Everything seems to be working fine now. I'll test again tomorrow and see about playing my new sims and see what happens.

@Siluial
Hello!
Would you mind sharing your machine specifications, please? if possible we would be needing your dxdiag from your computer as well.
You can attach one directly to a post.

This info is needed for us to replicate the issue.- Siluial4 years agoSeasoned Scout
My game is working fine now. Just an FYI.
Everything is settled and it doesn't seem to matter if my laptop lid is up or down - I have a secondary gaming monitor I use as my primary monitor.
Also, some things that were supposedly dl'd to me via the new little 'new arrival' thing is now functioning better too. I have a lot more new items that were not showing up before. This also removed my white-screen when closing the sims.
