What laptop to buy?

Hi all, I need a new laptop, its sole purpose will be to play sims 4. I've looked at the minimum requirements, but it's hard trying to find out what graphics card etc each laptop has. I'm in the UK, can anyone recommend a suitable laptop that won't break the bank? Currently using a HP pavillion I bought in 2016, i3 operating system. Getting slow. Thanks!

  • @Player_osvi1h8a I had this dilemma when looking for a new laptop. And if you look at laptops on the Argos website, it's surprising how many people asks "Can this laptop run The Sims 4?" Many people have said that purchasing a gaming laptop increases game play and download speed.

Mine (HP - regular laptop) was bought from Argos three years ago and I'm typing to you with the very one! I chose mine for the Ryzen and Radeon graphics as I find these to be exceptional.

I recommend looking on Argos at both types of laptops.

Wish you luck on finding a new laptop.

  • @Player_osvi1h8a  How much are you looking to spend?  Gaming laptops are relatively cheap these days, but they're not £400 cheap.  I can list some good options in your price range, or alternately let you know what the best options are in that range so you can shop yourself.

When you can't find out what graphics card a laptop has, that usually means it only has an integrated graphics chip, as in, integrated into the processor.  So knowing what processor the laptop has means you also know what graphics chip it has.  A dedicated graphics card, such as you'd see in a gaming laptop, should be listed separately.

  • I'm in Canada where things seem to cost more. I researched different gaming laptops and ones that I could up grade to save some money. I got a basic Nitro 5 gaming laptop on Amazon that was $689.00 If you're not in Canada it will cost you less more than likely. I bought all the upgrades for it to max ram, and  1 terabytes of memory in both D: and E: drive. Lots of space to store my favorite games. I watched many video's on YouTube (which also told me what to buy)  to be able to do this correctly. This laptop also has 2 fans that really work to push the heat away from the laptop to keep it cooler. I also have an Alien (my first choice that I regret cause I don't find it as fast). I much prefer my Acer Nitro 5 over it for gaming. And boy did it ever cost a bunch less than that dang Alien.

Acer Nitro 5 RTX350 i5-11400h  (17.3" screen (1920x1080)  This was the original before I upgraded it. I think it cost about $150 to do all the upgrades that you can do a bit at a time. The ram is the most important one to upgrade first and then go from there. (buying one with the upgrades I added would have cost well over $1000 Installing the upgrades wasn't difficult.
