Why are my Sims in create a sim, features not loading?

So when I try to create a sim my person looks all orange.  If I continue and go to the game the character stays rhat way, and the rest of the game characters are blank and one color. I am on PC using Windows Vista (I know it's old)  and just downloaded it yesterday. No mods or CC. How do I fix this?
