Why can't I install custom content for the sims 4 on my pc

I can't install custom content on my computer for sims 4.

    The package files ? You don't need to open them. Just copy into your mods folder. If they are rar files you need to donload 7zip or winrar.

I did that, but every time I try to get custom content any place other than fancysimmer's tumblr it shows an error message.

    my sims game says the dokument (name of cc). package can't be opened. the sims 4 cant open arkrves of this type
