@_Rosu-chan_ The Chromebook has an OS that is Google's version of Linux. The Chromebook also uses cloud storage. Sims games are coded for x86 architecture and to run on the mac EA uses a custom emulator. The biggest drawback is the Chromebook hardware. The Chromebook uses Intel Celeron processors, and weak video processors from the Celeron processors. and cloud storage. Sims 3 ran on Ubuntu (almost) before Origin became the DRM. Although the source code for Origin is public domain and available, the time and the need never really came together. It became more of a hope that EA would realize how much of the market it was missing. Most of the group (nerds?) I used to code with are now doing bigger and better things (like earning a living). It would be like the Blues Brothers putting the band back together. I do miss the beer drinking. You'd be surprised how much good code you get out of a case of beer. You really don't need a real powerful computer to play the Sims games. I recently picked up a Dell XPS 14z for $10 (was it in sad shape). A keyboard and new battery and a week of getting the Windows 10 drivers to work. It has a GeForce GT 520m and runs Sims 4 pretty good. Total investment $70. With AMD introducing the Ryzen chip there is a lot of used gaming rigs out there going cheap. The problem with cloud storage is today you get a limited block for free and after that you pay. There may be a time when these companies will no longer give it away. There was a Chromebook around here for a while but then the battery died it just wasn't worth the $45 to replace the battery in a limited use computer. A Toshiba Satellite L505D just came in (was told to make it go away) and it powers up. Keyboard has a few issues. Ebay $9.99 and about 15 minutes will fix that. A good cleaning and a fresh install of Windows 10. At the very least it will be a nice student laptop. The system requirements for the Sims games are listed and Windows and/or OS X are required. I had thought about making a hackintosh but I didn't have the resources at that time and the project just never happened. All my desktops are AMD and I need an Intel based desktop computer to start off with. Holidays are busy times for me. You might look into running Windows on a Chromebook although you may still have performance issues because of low performance hardware.
