You Must Be Online When Logging In For The First Time

I recently purchased the Sims 4, and in order to install it I have to either install Origin (which I already have on my computer) or log in to it. When I open the log in page, it says, "Online login ...

To see if it's the antivirus or firewall, try turning it off to test.

    That worked! It let me onto the main Origin page and I was able to open the window to enter the game code. BUT, it then said that it was temporarily unavailable because of maintainance or because the server was over loaded or something, so I couldn't finish installing. Then Origin quit responding. Does this happen often?
