This appears to be happening to a lot of Simmers, contact Support and tell them you need the 64 bit version - you MAY have to speak to several advisors before this is successful.
“It says one of my expansions isn’t compatible with the base game!”
Not 100% sure on the cause of this one but people have managed to fix it by renaming the “The Sims 3” folder in Documents -> Electronic Arts and starting the game up again. Might be something to do with having old versions of the Sims games still present on your Mac (or some of the files from it). Not sure. No one knows why. I promise you you won’t find out by asking.
And for the big one:
“My game says verification error, installation not complete, please reinstall!”
Unfortunately, they know. We all know. That’s why this thread is so long. Developers weren’t expecting this, it didn’t show up in any testing, the problem occurred post signing off the game. Unfortunately once you get the error there is currently no way to get your Sims 3 game to work, don’t reinstall, don’t touch anything, it’s unfortunately just a waiting game.
(Yes, there are a couple of people in the thread that have got a working version of Sims 3 64 bit. All of these people got their copies through contacting support several hours after launch. Don’t ask them how they got theirs working, they didn’t do anything special. Again, waiting game.)
I know this is frustrating. I know.
No one wanted this to happen after the announcement a year ago, least of all the Development team that have worked their behinds off trying to make it happen. Please, please don’t get angry with them, they’re doing everything they can to get the game working.
