I'm not sure if licensing or ownership might be an issue. The Sims 1 and 2 are pretty old games now too but so was Command & Conquer.
Yes, I do wonder if the inclusion of 90s tv/music stars in the Sims 1 might stop a remaster. I don't remember if Sims 2 had that? I don't think so?). Sims 3 doesn't necessarily need a remaster (though maybe, those skins are pretty rough), but it could use a (real) update for 64 bit on PC (and probably for whatever the newer things are on console).
