A Sims Movie? What Would Entice You to Watch?

A Sims Movie is in the works. With the Sims being as open ended as it is, it's hard to guess what the movie would be about. They've confirmed that it's going to be live action, not Sims 4 art style CG, but that still leaves a lot of room for conjecture. I've made a list of possible features. Which of these would spark your interest in the film? Which would turn you off? What features have I missed?

  1. A focus on Sims Lore (e.g. the central plot revolving around Bella's disappearance in Sims 2)
  2. Some references to Sims lore (e.g. including pre-mades as supporting characters). THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED: Freezer Bunny is coming to the big screen.
  3. The central character realizes that their world is an idealized simulation and must learn to navigate the real world (e.g. Barbie)
  4. The central character realizes that their world is a bad simulation and escapes to the real world (e.g. Truman Show)
  5. The central character realizes that their world is a simulation and uses this knowledge to achieve a goal of some sort (e.g. Free Guy)
  6. The central character is a human who is transported into the game (e.g. Tron)
  7. The central character goes on a Wizard of Oz style journey through the different worlds in the Sims 4 in search of . . . something. This could be combined with options 4, 5 or 6. Maybe the character is in search of a way out. Maybe the character is in search of a cheat code that will solve some problem that they have.
  8. The central character must save their world and their loved ones from imminent destruction by game-breaking bugs (e.g. the Langoliers).
  9. A focus on a particular play style (e.g. romance play, family play, level-up skills/career play)
  10. A focus on a particular pack. THIS HAS BEEN RULED OUT

  • I will watch it a few years later when it's on TV. I guess. I didn't see the barbie film in the cinema either. It happened to be available on a plane so I have seen it after it left the cinema. Sims is about my personal sims and their stories. A movie will be other people's sims.

Nothing would entice me to watch it!

Probably because I can't imagine it.

  • ..strangely enough, i paused for a minute to think about it. With Margot whoever her name is, the actress that did Harley quinn before, and then Barbie ! lol so yeah i thought "oh no", was my first reaction ofc, im old im sorry. But maybe it wouldnt be so bad to learn about the characters, because i deleted all the sims OG characters. The first i deleted outta my game are the Goths. So cliche i couldnt stand the adams family charicature which is itself a charicature i do not like personally. Its all very personal. When i learned sims all had storylines was actually thru the old forums a few years back, i did some research on it since.... for example the history of the Calientes, with she has alien step-dad or something like that... and me i was 2 generations into a whole nother kinda situation scenario i had made her a main character in one of my games and ended up deleting em also. Landgraabs same thing, after a year or two of playing them i got bored and deleted them. The latest ones, cottage living and horse ranch that i bought. Also HSY and Eco lifestyle which i all bought in the last 2 years, i have kept some of the story sims. But i always end up putting on a scenario of my own w sims i create and edit w full skills, full cash. I been playing like that for the last 3-4 years and now like i mentionned i try and incorporate the sims from the game that i like. For example in Henford-on-Bagel i replaces the mayor, made over the Crumplebottoms (regressed their age) and in ranch i found the way to replace Crinkletop. Its a little tricky but easy to do. It started when i found how to replace the principle Prescott in HSY. Her i had to delete right away, i really did not like that whole household tbh. So to each their own, that is what is fantastic about this community, and now to successfully morph into a movie franchise would continue to make videogaming history, i think its the right move.

So a movie about the sims... if its about the OG characters storylines... id go for that 100% !

  • Personally, 2 is a must have. It won't feel like a Sims movie if premades don't make an appearance. I think 5 or 6 would be fun in combination with 7. I'd also like 8, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't happen, since this movie is being made with the blessing of EA.

I wouldn't mind one or more of the play styles being referenced, but I wouldn't want the movie to revolve around one of them. For example, a movie that focuses on the family play style is just going to feel like a generic family comedy or drama.
