black screen
I've had this problem with a few games that when i launch the game my screen will go black/flicker and I've fixed it by changing the setting from full screen to windowed.

I had that problem the game would load I would choose the neighborhood and after the camera pans around the neighborhood the screen would go black but I could hear music. I fixed it by going back to the desktop then clicking TS2 icon in the taskbar, and the black screen was gone and I could play. Hope that helps.
My Sims 2 Ultimate collection keeps black screening whenever i try to start it up. As soon as i click play on the Origin launcher the screen just goes blank and no matter how long i leave it for there is no change. I've tried googling it and answers like delete the .cache files and move the folder elsewhere have come up nothing seems to have worked, ive also tried updating and repairing the game but still nothing, please help!!
Did you try compatibility mode ?

Right-click on the S2UC icon on your desktop and choose properties. Go to the compatibility tab and then choose Windows XP (try all until it works)
I chose the Wondows XP compatiblity mode and it still doesnt work ☹️
Try them all. XP with all different service packs, vista, 7, ...

Ive found what my problem is, the games apparently not installed properly. I downloaded it off origin for free with the code they gave out so i dont really know what to do
