I got The Sims 2 working again on my PC on its birthday a few days ago, which took a while because I own the games on disc, but the effort was worth it. Just having incredibly responsive Sims is enough for me to pick it over The Sims 4. No simulation lag, no standing around, no walking all the way to their destination before they acknowledge that their interaction was cancelled, no creepy smiling, faster eating... Leave them alone for two or three seconds and they're off doing something, it all feels so lively.
I have a ridiculous amount of mods and CC for The Sims 4, but I can play The Sims 2 with only 2 mods and zero CC and I don't get bored.
