Hopefully I'm not too late to the bandwagon. I would pay for a copy on Origin. Blizzard updates Diablo 2 on occasion still (they fixed it for Windows 10 in 2015 -- they have a classic games team that is dedicated to keeping the older content alive.)
EA would not have to invest much in a classic games team to help revive dead games they own the rights to, and preserve the ones they are coming out with now.
As another example, I have literally dozens of older games in my Steam and GoG libraries that I only bought starting in 2015 when I got those accounts. Epic still has UT2004 as well.
EA is the only one of the big game companies I know of who is not putting at least a little bit into their retro/classic titles.
