Can't play sims deluxe edition on windows vista anymore. Need fix!

Suddenly my Sims Deluxe Edition game won't run on my laptop, which runs Windows Vista.  I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling  it, and I even reinstalled my operating system twice.  I have played this game many, many times before on this same computer with no problem.  Is there a fix for it?  (I also tried to install and play it on my newer desktop computer which is running Windows 10, and it won't play on that either.

What happens on both my laptop and desktop computers is the menu will come up, along with the music, and I'll click on the Play button.  Then I'll click on any of the three choices--resolution choice or Sims Creator--and nothing happens.  The game does not appear--the program just stops running. 

I have spent literally many days in the past 3 weeks trying to get this game to play, and do not want to have to buy a new game.  Please help!
