Can't run Sims 2 under Windows Vista

So, I keep getting this error message whenever I open the Sims 2 launcher saying that I can't run Sims 2 without Internet Explorer 10. This is a problem because I have Windows Vista and apparently Internet Explorer 10 isn't compatible with Vista. This started happening not long ago and is strange because it's never been a problem before. Help.
