D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! Error for Sims UC

Since Sims 2 UC wasn't available for Mac I had it installed on bootcamp on Windows XP. The game installed fine and it's almost entirely playable except for the error D3DERR_INVALIDCALL which pops up ...
