[FIX] Sims 2 on Windows 8 CRASH

After launching The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection from Origin and going through the introductory song and video, the sims stopped responding on the loading screen. I had to Ctrl + Alt + Del to the task manager to see that the sims had stopped responding and I ended the process.

The Sims 2 crashes because it is uncompatible with Windows 8. Unless you want to install a completely different OS, I suggest you follow the following steps: [Source]

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)
2. Enter run programs in the search box.
3. Tap or click Run programs made for precious version of Windows, and then tap or click Next.
4. Select the program you want to fix.

   If you don't see the program in the list, select Not Listed.

   [In my case I had to search the sims 2 in the same search box you get when doing step 1, and click the program. My problem was fixed here.]
5. Tap or click Next, and then follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.
