It felt like bad Karma. At some point, in legacy play, the sim-self gets older and old and dies. The children grow up and they need to marry or partner - ew! Controlling that is completely awful. They also get old and die. Never ever again.
In Sims 1 the children never become adults and nobody dies of old age. Sim-selves would be ok there.
