The poll here is just one of the samples. I also made a poll on reddit. Interestingly the results is similar. But as @simgirl1010 said, there are players that's too young to use social internet yet. I heard a lot of people sharing their experience playing the sims as a kid. Although I never knew the sims untill freeplay, I did enjoy simulation games like theme hospital and insaniqarium that is similar to the sims.
I only said the younger players don't seem to frequent the official forum. They may be on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.
