No need to be creeped out. If you ask most long time players who are apposed, it's simply because we don't want anyone else having the ability to change our games. A lot of us micromanage. We customize NPCs and townies, houses, the way our worlds are set up, what all of our households are doing. It just comes out of playing Sims for 23 years exactly the way we want.
How would having other players in our game affect that? Could they change our builds or the way our Sims look? Would we not be able to build or change Sims when we are in the same world together? Would we be able to use CC or mods and if we did, how would it impact other players? (Anyone who used the Sims 2 exchange can tell you horror stories of downloading assets that were supposedly CC free only to discover some rogue item had latched itself to a lot or Sim and now your game was corrupt.) Will there be story progression when you are with other players? How will that work if your settings are different? There are just a lot of ways that having other people in your game would change how you can play.
