I like the look of InZoi, but I strongly suspect that once I start playing it, there will be some critical differences.
For example, Avakin Life is online only, chat game with avatar customization, fashion contests, customizable private chat spaces, and minimal NPC interactions. You can customize an "apartment" or "house" and enjoy it privately, but to look really fancy, whether it be your chat spaces or your fashion wardrobe, you have to pay for microtransactions. Stardew Valley is also a good example: better crafting and collecting, 2D retro art style, quests optional and return regularly, cave dungeons, and neighbors that stay the same throughout the game - by the way, mods ARE available for Stardew Valley.
MySims also has a different art style, quests are always assigned, no aspirations/whims system, no mods available. Ditto for Disney Dreamlight Valley (3D world, not moddable).
Sims Freestyle has two critical differences I dislike: not only are certain quests required to unlock features, but interaction with online players is a requirement, and tasks take place in real-time (8 hours in game is 8 hours in real life). 1) I don't have enough real-life friends who play that game, and 2) Quests take FAR too long to complete in real time. I don't like games that feel like a full-time job.
Sims Medieval I absolutely loved the professions, story mode, and wardrobes. I would love seeing something like this return in a Sims 4 expansion pack, but with an optional story mode. There is already a "royalty mod" out there for Sims 4, with an added goal following the story of a lost princess trying to find out her heritage, then become part of the nobility.
Speaking of Story mode, this is very much like the events we get now in Sims 4. Unfortunately, on the last two (Reapers quests and Cozy Holiday), my computer REFUSED to run the game during several weeks of the quest period. (The only thing I got from Cozy Holiday was the wreath as a result). My computer also did not work during any part of the Summer concerts event either so I missed out on that swag and the live in-game concerts 😞 I do hope some of these events return another year, or are included in free updates or even kits.
