Legacy Collections: A Message of Gratitude and Consternation
First of all, I want to thank EA for releasing TS1 and TS2, officially upgrading them from abandonware to activeware. The fact that we can get support and fixes for these retro games is exciting.
I also want to thank the community managers during this period. The forums have been overloaded with activity and we now have two new subforums for active games requiring attention. In addition, the subforums have been frankly messy and require extra work for cleanup: many duplicate threads are created on the same bug complaints that would have been found using the search feature.
That being said, I have several concerns. I'm fortunate enough to have been able to run both TS1 and TS2 on launch day, but there remain a significant number of players who still can't run the game they paid for and are past the refund period. The instability at launch was unacceptable.
Second, I'm concerned about understaffed community management for the sheer volume of bug reports. It seems like there's more work for the same number of employees, leading to delays. I hope that's not the case.
Finally, I'm noticing the underprioritization of the Sims 2 and Sims 1 subforums, particularly the latter. For example, please see the image below of recent activity from a community manager. Sims 4 bugs tend to get active responses and attention. Sims 2 has received a few recent responses, while Sims 1 has received very little activity. I can hope that more is going on behind the scenes, but I don't know without communication.
