Missing Plants in Sims 2

The Sims 2

I messed up my game a while back and lost moist of my objects and plants that came with game.  I have the Ultimate Collection. I have no plants that came with game for the lots.  World plants are fine.  Other items gone but got moist back somehow.  But can't get the plants and trees like weeping willow, cactus, hydrangea and so on.  I have even uninstalled my game and reinstalled.  But stuff still missing.  Can anyone tell me how to get it back?

    Hi @kamra1961,

Do you remember what caused the plants to disappear? What changes did you make in the game?

The plants you mean, are those that are available for purchase in the buy/build mode?

    Thanks,

    Mai

PS: I moved your thread to the The Sims 2 board 😉

  • Thanks for getting in touch with me.  Yes the plants and other objects from inside the game went missing from buy, and build/buy garden.  Like the small cactus everyone smells, the big cactus, weeping willow and so much more.  The hydrangea shrub.  It happened when first I deleted Straingtown from my game and installed one of those cleaned up versions, but I put it under something other then downloads and I know I did not do it right.  The first thing I noticed in the game was anything that was on a lot in Straingtown was now unusable and also missing from the catalog. Telescopes, easels and so on.  I then got rid of that town and kept playing other hoods but hate all the stuff being missing.  I finely uninstalled and re-installed my game in hopes that would bring everything back.  I got Straingtown back but not the stuff.  I have got much of the stuff back off sights on line, but not my garden stuff or lots of plant items decor and garden from the mansion and garden pack.  I have the ultimate collection.  I know I messed my game up but would have thought reloading it would have brought it back. Please help if you can.

    Hi @kamra1961,

    Let's try something 😉 :

    1. With the game closed, go to Documents \ EA Games folder
    2. Move the "The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection" folder you will find there to your desktop or another safe location.
    3. Open your game. You won't have your sims or save games, but please, check if the plants and other objects are back.

Everything is working as it should in this clean save game?

  • Wow, ok I did that and yes it is all there now.  So what does that mean?  Do I have a corrupted hood or bad cc?  What now?  It was so good to see everything back.  Thank you so much for helping me, please stay with me.

    Hi @kamra1961,

That means your game is not broken, but there's something wrong in your user files. That's why when you reinstalled the game, the issue was still there, because reinstalling the game doesn't delete your user files.

As something seems to be corrupted in your neighborhood files, I recommend you to start over. You will lose your sims but at least your game will work as it is supposed to.

We could try to restore your neighborhoods with your sims, and I will explain you how to do it if you are interested, but I don't recommend doing this.

Tell me what you prefer to do 😉

  • I thank you so much.  I will start over as sad as it is, but not like I have not done it many times over the sim years LOL.  So what do I put back into the game?  Just my download file?

    Hi @kamra1961,

In that case, after playing for a few days, you can delete your The Sims 2 Ultimate collection folder from your desktop. Once you do this, it will be impossible to restore your old neighborhoods and sims.

You don't need to put back anything. If you want to download something (mods or custom content) from other players and introduce it in your game, I can not guarantee it will still work, as you are introducing content created by other players, not by EA. You would be doing it at your own risk 😉

Let me know if you have any questions,

    Mai
