Moving saved files from external to hard drive

My hard drive had to be wiped clean.  I re-installed Sims 2 via Origin.  I have save all the folders for Sims 2 on an external dirve.  When I try to move those folders (such as downloads) the program crashes.  It did accept all the empty Collection files tho.  Is there a procedure I need to follow?  I don't want to lose the neighborhood and houses I created.

  • Just to check in case I misunderstood, please ensure the game is turned off when you move the files. From your description, it does sound like there is a corrupt backup file. Try copying and moving a couple of saves to see if these transfer without issue.

Also I'll just post the standard process, but you've probably seen it already: http://help.ea.com/en/article/backing-up-your-sims-2-files/

  • I was jus 'moving', however, your word 'copy' reminded me that I need to copy and paste - and this seems to be working.  I am working on the object dowloads - and am hoping that this will work for the neighborhoods also - meaing to copy and paste from my external drive into my hard drive
