Section 9 - Gardening & Related -  Flower Arranging,  Garden Competitions, Harvestables, Landscaping, Nectar Making, Perfume Making & Truffling 

Gardening Important Points 

  • Important Notes on Plants*
    • Can we please have plants that more similar to their real world counterparts. For example ground plants don't look like bushes. Neither carrot, strawberries nor potatoes are bush plants. 
    • There are quite a few Landscaping Trees (Not Harvestables) that change throughout the year
      • Flower in Spring
      • Leafy in Summer
      • Leafless in Winter
  • Composting & Manure 
  • Cross-Breeding & Grafting - Gardening Skill keeps Cross-Breeding and Grafting but in a more realistic way to create new varieties  of plants not whole new plants unless thats how they got their start.
  • Cuisines of the World 
    • If you introduce a cuisine that relies heavily on a certain fruit, veggie, spice don't be afraid to give that new harvestable along with it.
    • I will concede that most spices would be better if purchased 
  • Foraging & Truffling 
    • Foraging can be great for Off the Grid game play & All kinds of other uses
      • Alchemy & Potions
      • Herbalism 
        • Lets get this straight Herbalism & being an Apothecary are the same thing (Note: for the recent Fairies pack) 
    • Dogs can be trained to hunt for Truffles 
    • Truffles can be sold like an other Harvestable
  • Garden Judging from Sims 2 but better
    • All kinds of related Competitions like Topiary Sculpting 
    • Flower Shows like in Britain 
    • Individual Home Garden Judging 
    • Harvestable Judging from Sims 4: Cottage Living Makes a Comeback 
    • Garden Clubs or Societies devoted to a specific plant say Orchids or Roses 
  • Grow Zones & Seasonal Harvesting 
    • I LOVE the realism of Seasonal Harvesting. 
      • It gives the reason for having Green Houses & Conservatories 
      • I think it should go further with fruits & veggies harvested in Season a Cooking Bonus
    • I feel the same about Grow Zones
      • We should have an amount of challenge in growing things 
      • Want bananas in a temperate climate that is what a Green House or Orangeries are for
  • Maple Syrup Collection 
    • Canadian Type Zone or Camping Zone 
    • Fall Collection
    • Maple Syrup Recipes
  • Nectar Making 
    • Should use more than just grapes in the process. Elderberries make an excellent "nectar"
    • No more Trash Plant or similar Nectars. That is just gross
    • Aging makes Nectars better
    • Smashing Fruit in the Vats with the Feet is Classic and should never change
      • Should include Lucy's classic outfit from the "I Love Lucy" TV show in CAS with reference to the episode in the name  
    • "Nectararies" and Nectar Making should be in Romantic World Zones.  It makes them far more enjoyable

  • Romance of Flowers - For centuries people have ascribed meaning to certain plants. this includes the most popular meanings in the plants description along with its scientific name. Here are a few examples: 
    • Aconite - Monk's Hood or Wolf's Bane - "Misanthropy"
    • Aloe - "Grief" , Great for Sunburns
    • Amaranth - "Immortality"
    • Anemone - "Forsaken, sickness (negative), anticipation, undying love"
    • Asphodelus - Meaning "My regrets follow you to the grave"
    • Birds-foot trefoil - "Revenge"
    • Chrysanthemums - Asian countries consider this a flower to place on grave or to represent death
    • Cypress - "Death, mourning, despair, sorrow"
    • Mandrake - Also known as Devil's Apples
    • Rue - "Regret, sorrow, repentance"
    • Witch-hazel - "A magic spell"
    • Wormwood, Artemisia absinthium - "Absence, bitter sorrow"
  •  Scientific Names of Real Plants int he Description 
    • Can be something learned when a plant is studied and included in the notes
    • Studying plants the way you can in Sims can give a bonus on gardening that plant
    • Include the scientific name of each plant in the description. 
    • Learning new things could be an additional component and enhancement to gardening.
  • Seasonal Allergies (Amongst others) 
    • Should make a comeback in Seasons 
    • Different Types of Allergies
    • Can be Selectable in CAS 
      • No Allergies
      • Plant Allergies
        • Flowers
        • Fruits 
        • Veggies
      • Pet Allergies
        • Cats
        • Dogs
        • Rodents

Harvestable plants should come in different shapes. Not every plant is a bush or a tree. I realize it would take forever to create their lookalikes in game however I think you should at least break it up into a few category types. I will say that flowers should at least look mostly like their real world counterpart. 

  • Underground plant like potatoes and carrots
  • Above ground plant
  • Bush
  • Vine
  • Tree

Magical Plants The reason I'm suggesting that certain plants be obtainable only from certain Sims so that there is a further degree of difficulty in the game for things like Herbalism, Magic and Alchemy. 



Flower Arranging

Flower arranging not just being the table arrangements (Which I still want btw) - Using flowers we can grow. It would be also nice to learn new styles in different countries for example Leis or Ikebana.

I'd love Flower shows like the Brits do every year.
