Temperature, Weather & Climate

If this were a perfect world Climate and Weather would be in the Base Game in a simplistic form. This would give the teams the ability to implement new and different climates and weather for any new Expansions or Game Packs. I would like to suggest a few things from the start

Climate Window - This like the window we had all the way back in Sims 2.

• Please make the climate and seasonal pattern customizable per neighborhood especially if it's a neighborhood designed by a Simmer. For example:

• Holidays on the Calendar tied more to a date than to a particular Season so that people can experience holidays as they want them like Snowflake Day in the Summer as it often is in the Southern Hemisphere

• Autumn - Golden
• Winter - Blueish

Types of Weather 

• Acid Rain
• Breezy
• Cloudy
• Dry Lightning - Happens a lot in hot dry areas, mostly at night
• Dust Devil - Dry Area
• Fog & Pea Soup Fog
• Hail - Light, Heavy
• Heatwave & Drought
• Hurricane (Costal Regions)
• Ice Fog
• Rain - Light, Heavy, Monsoon
• Sandstorm - Desert Area

• Snow - Light, Moderate, Blizzard

Sims & The Seasons


Spring

• Sims are more loving in the Spring & Winter towards their families, pets and partners
• Toddlers will splash in puddles in Spring & Summer
• Sims & Pets can develop allergies in Spring & Fall
  
• Sims desire to garden more in Spring & Summer and their gardening skill will increase more quickly
• Sims can pick wild flowers in the Spring
• Sims can gain Flower Arranging Skill faster in Spring
• Topiary Sculpting, Garden Judging, and Flower Competitions are done in spring
• Sims will change into their rain gear while being outside in rain. If they have an umbrella in their inventory they will use that too.
• Perfume that are floral based will be more alluring in Spring
• Catching Butterflies in the Spring

• Cats will Chase Butterflies
• Butterflies will sometimes land on dogs noses
• Kite Flying - and if you fly the kite in a rainstorm you get hit by lightning.

Summer

• Vampire Sims can purchase a Parasol to protect themselves from the sun in a limited way. The parasol will protect a regular Sim from Sunburn
• Sims can Tan or Sunburn in Summer.
• Sims can get heat exhaustion where they become ill. Stay hot for too long and they will get heat stroke and die.
• Children will want to create lemonade stands in Summer
• Sims will have to water plants more often in Summer especially if the area is a desert
• Sims can play Marco Polo in the pool during Summer
• Sims will wish to BBQ and have BBQ parties
• Water Pistols & Water Balloon Tubs for Water fights
• Slip & Slide like toy
• Lounge Chair Interactions

• Sims will want to throw a pool party, visit the community pool or the beach in Summer

• Sims will shield their eyes during sunny weather and put on sun glasses if set in CAS
• Sims who are fastidious will apply sunscreen regularly during the summer. They will shower more often too
• Sims can make Sand Castles and Sand Sculptures at the beach. Sand sculpture judging happens during summer
• Perfume that is fruit scented is more alluring in Summer
• Catching Fireflies in the Summer

Fall

• Sims develop skills more quickly in the fall
• Sims who enjoy Cooking & Baking will wish to do so more in Fall & Winter. Skill Gains will be faster
• Sims have a chance to catch colds if they allow themselves to stay cold for too long in the Fall & Winter
• Sims can throw a Costume Party for Spooky Day.
• Children and Teens can Trick or Treat on Spooky Day
• Sims will enjoy doing more pranks during Spooky Day
• Sims can rake leaves in Fall and can burn, compost, play in, or woo hoo in the leaf piles
• Some Sims will actively crave pumpkin recipes and pumpkin related activities
• Pumpkin Spice Lattes will only be available at Cafes and coffee shops during the fall
• Sims can Carve, Light, Set Light Color, Preserve & Smash pumpkins
• Perfume that is based on patchouli or amber is more alluring in Fall

• Spooky Day should be a great day for Tricks as well as Treats

Winter

• Toddlers will eat snow in Winter including yellow snow
• Sims can have a snow day during blizzards. This effects school and all careers except Police, Nurses and Doctors
• Sims can get a shot for the flu in Fall & Winter
• Sims can do Winter Swimming if they join a Polar Bear club
• Ice Sculpting can be done by Sims in Winter. They can make small ones for party centerpieces or big ones for competitions during fairs
• Fireplace auto light only happens in cold weather during Fall & Winter
• Sims are more giving in Winter
• Sims can freeze to death in Winter
• Ice Fishing can happen on frozen over lakes
• Snowball Fights
• Snow Angels
• Snowmen will reflect the personality of the person making it. Teens and Parents can help children
• Icicles on the roof line
• Deep snow
• Lakes can get frozen and Sims can skate on them
• The Ice Skating rink should have the same customizable features as Sims 4 with music lighting and the lighting effects
• Sims can shovel Snow on Driveways, Porches and Sidewalks. It will be advised to do this because if a stranger Sims slips and hurts themselves your Sim may face a lawsuit
• Sims might wish to Snowboard, Ice Skate, or Ski if there is Winter Sport Zone
• Perfume that is based on vanilla is more alluring in Winter
• Radiators and vents work as a heat source similar to fireplaces and the Thermostat
• Sims can collect Maple syrup in Weather

Pets & The Weather

• Animals can, should & do tend to experience climate and temperature very similarly to how humans do & the Sims 5 should allow animals to get hot, cold etc. just like their real world counterparts 
• I would love to see Dogs and Cats lounging by fireplaces
• I think it would be cool to see some breeds of dogs really love the snow and cold weather and others not even wanting to go outside for a few minutes to tinkle
• Some dogs will like playing in rain puddles others won't
• Dogs can eat snow
• Dogs will want to swim in the heat of summer. They can do so in pools, the ocean, rivers and lakes. They will sit in a kiddy pool if one is filled.
• Cats prefer to be warm so will gravitate to a sunny spot or the radiator, or fireplace

Lunar Cycle

• The Lunar Cycle can be set to "Single Lunar Phase", "Rotating Lunar Phase", "Set Permanent Phase" and "Disable Lunar Effects"
• Rotating Lunar Phase can be 2-24 days and the default is 7
• Toddlers can ask about the moon phases and have special moon dreams depending on the phase
• On a Waxing Crescent Moon, Werewolves receive a skill gain to fitness activities.
• On a First Quarter Moon and a Third Quarter Moon, Werewolves have increased relationship gain and loss.
• On a Waxing Gibbous Moon, Werewolves receive a heightened fighting prowess allowing more successful fights.
• On a Waning Gibbous Moon, Werewolves receive a skill gain to the handiness skill.
• On a Waning Crescent Moon, Werewolves receive a skill gain to logic and reading activities.
• There will be a Lunar Dial object and the Lunar Cycle will be on the calendar

Full Moon

•  
• Sims who possess werewolf powers automatically transform and cannot become human until the next morning
• Witches spend 50% less magic power and gains 25% more successful spell rate.
• On a Full Moon, Werewolves receive a "Call of the Beast" +3 angry moodlet which generates a lot of fury on all Werewolves, momentarily causing them to rampage and only stopping once the full moon is over, or however, a werewolf successfully resists control.
• More Ghosts will appear
• Sims will sometimes wake up during their sleep to "Freak Out".
• Pets will become skittish till morning
• Insane Sims will behave more erratically
• Fairies are affected by the lunar cycle as well. They gain the "Energized by Moonlight" moodlet, which changes in value over the cycle, being at its most powerful during the full moon.
• You will hear more wolves howl in wooded areas during the Full Moon
• Burglary is more likely to happen during the full moon
• Mermaids have a lowered hydration loss on full moons
• Aliens receive an "Extraterrestrial Nostalgia" moodlet when moonbathing
• Vampires, Werewolves and Fairies will also moonbathe

The New Moon

• On a New Moon, Werewolves receive a nighttime sleep mood benefit, when they sleep during a new moon they receive a strong moodlet when they wake up
• On a New Moon Werewolves cannot "Howl at the Moon"
• Fairies gain the "Starving for Moonlight" moodlet, which decreases their mood by 5 mood points
• Fairies can "Lament The Moonless Night" to another Sim when they have this moodlet.
• Moon Petals will not Bloom
• Vampires gain vampire energy regeneration on nights with a new moon
