No Interactions Available

During the 'First Steps' quest, when the Royal Advisor suggests you purchase new furniture for the Throne Room, the game subsenquently glitches and there are no interactions available for anybody throughout the entire castle. The sims appears to be stuck where they are, and unable to move anywhere - the floors don't have an option to 'go [t]here' so it's therefore impossible for the monarch to travel anywhere. I cannot interact with people or objects to perform other duties for the current quest as a result, and when I repeatedly try different techniques to resolve the issue, such as moving furniture around or switching between kingdom mode and furnish mode or live mode, the screen freezes and then the game crashes - I have attempted to resolve the issue three times by reloading the game as required. The tutorial prevents me from having the ability to save my progress and return afterwards as well, so I'm not sure what to do next. I would very much appreciate help from somebody regarding this issue, if anybody has experienced something similar. Thank you.
