Not For the Better!

Judging by the questions, inquiries and comments on this EA site about "UPDATE REQUIRED TO LAUNCH THIS GAME", no technical advisor, no hacker professional or anyone working for EA has the answer to this problem. I have been playing the sims for over 20 years. It is the only game that gives me comfort after my very long days at work (I work 12 hour shifts - 4 days a week) and not to mention having to just plainly deal with the outside world. However, I have to say that although I have tried TS3 and TS4, TS2 will always be my go to. I have watched how this so called 'evolution' has brought myself and others from being able to use our more reliable and easy to fix cd-rom disks to having to be at the mercy of unnecessary online platforms run by people in unnecessary roles in order to play the games we love so much. This is called anger. But in this world, they say you attract more flies with honey which means being polite is the only way to get what you want. However, in my experienced life, I have seen that the only thing that attract flies is - and pardon my french- *. So, right now, NO ONE, on this unnecessary EA platform has an answer to this problem sending everyone into a 'loop' of trying to figure out how to fix this. And the truly sad thing about it is the NO ONE in EA cares. So...I will now have to save my hard earned money to buy me a desktop with a CD-ROM so that I may play my sims 2 in peace and no longer be at the mercy of unnecessary people and things. Good luck to you all in finding a fix.

  • @tewsyawla , I'm sorry you feel this way. Those of us who post here with possible solutions are mostly a volunteer staff meaning we do not work for EA and are players like yourself who try to help others get their games to run.

Please remember that Sims 2 is over 15 years old and so requires special tweaks, equipment and patches to play on newer computers. You can purchase an external CD drive (I have one even though my computer hasn't had a CD drive for well over 10 years) to use to install and run your game. Please do note that the only digital version of the game available these days is for the Mac OS as the game Sims 2 was officially retired in 2018 by EA/Maxis.

CD drives aren't that expensive and are certainly cheaper than a whole new computer.

If you need help to install your game once you get a new drive, please feel free to post here and we will help you to get your game up and running again.
