Original Sims Deluxe serial number not working.

I have a copy of The Sims: Deluxe Edition, and I'm attempting to install it on a Windows 8.1 computer. When it asks me for the serial number, I insert the number on the CD case, and it gives me an er...

@nikoman323 The case that you pictured seems to be for the base game, and not Deluxe Edition, unless there was some case/disk mismatch, so that might be why the code does not work.
