I wouldn't be surprised if Rene had some sort of battle pass and microtransactions. They've already got plenty of data on microtransactions from The Sims 3 store, The Sims 4 kits, and two different mobile games. All kinds of games have battlepasses now so it wouldn't be impossible for Rene to have one. Just Dance has a battle pass for example. Disney Dreamlight Valley which is in a similar vein has a battle pass. Based on what we've heard of their upcoming game I don't think many currents fans will enjoy it honestly. People keep saying go back to 2, go back to 3. I don't think they want to make something like those at this point. Until developers realize that we don't have enough time to put into 25 different live service games for every battlepass that will be the cash cow everyone chases.
Yes. The whole concept of kits is testing the waters for the future monetization model. Frequent, small purchases on content. They're controversial, but clearly enough people are buying them that it's worth the effort to keep making them.
The question of will be enjoy the monetization model of Sims 5...it depends on what it is. If it's a free base game with the same content architecture (EPs, GPs, and kits) there will be no issue.
