I clearly can't see this " 5 years at least and maybe 6, that’s the optimistic take" being true. If we have to judge by the very first job listings for the game (2018), i think they will announce Project Rene as The Sims 5 in either 2024 or 2025 with a release date for 2025/2026. If they really started in 2018, this will make it 7 or 8 (!!!) years in development which is more than enough for a base game.
