Re: Base Neighborhoods missing. Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.

@Electro_Blazer82 , it's actually a very easy fix and has nothing to do with the "Store Version" verses the regular version.

First of all, move your Sims 2 folder (Found Documents > EA Games > Sims 2) to your Desktop. Do NOT copy and paste or create a shortcut, actually move the file to your Desktop. This folder contains your Saved games, CC and mods. They will be safe on your Desktop for the moment. Next, start up the game as normal to allow for a new Sims 2 folder to generate in its place. See if the Neighborhoods appear as normal at this time and start a new game remembering that none of your current saves, CC or mods will be present. Play for about an hour and then save and quit. My advice on saving games is to save your game prior to quitting and then simply quitting the game without saving. I always do this and it cuts down on game data becoming corrupted.

Let me know if this brings back your Neighborhoods like normal. It could be a Mod or CC that is causing them to disappear, but I want to test first to see if they come back. Please let me know what happens so I can see what needs to be done next.

  • Sorry for the late reply. Ended up playing more than an hour but that's what happens when you play the Sims. Your method did the trick! I got my worlds back! Strange thing though. I didn't have any mods or CC installed this time around. I just installed it and they just weren't there. Thank you so much for your help!

  • @Tremayne4260 Thank you so much! I waited 7 hours for it to install and then the same thing happened. If it wasn't for your answer I would've had a full on 24-year old tantrum XD

Hi, I’be had the same issue a couple of times now and found this thread really helpful - so thank you!

But I’m wondering where to go now. I’ve moved the Sims 2 folder to the desktop, played the new game etc and when I returned to my old game all was back to normal. But how do I move my original content back to the documents folder safely? I ask because I had the issue happen again and because the Sims 2 folder was already on the desktop I didn’t know how to repeat the steps to fix the neighbourhoods - when I tried I ended up deleting everything (I hadn’t been playing long so it wasn’t a huge loss). But I don’t want it to happen again!

This might be a really daft question (I only recently started replaying since I was a kid and I don’t have much computer knowledge!)

If anyone could give me any advice that would be great.

  • @jobby64 , ok there are a couple of ways to solve this problem. The easiest is to simply rename the Sims 2 folder you move to your Desktop. That way your saved games and CC will be safe even if you have to do the same thing again. The other is to simply move the Sims 2 folder in the game to the trash.

Once the game is back to normal, open both your saved games folder and the new Sims 2 folder side by side. You should see a difference in some of the folders in that your moved folder may have more content such as your Downloads folder, the Teleport folder and Thumbnails (those I think those are the folders I may have missed some). Your saved games are in the Neighborhoods folder and if you only played say in Pleasantview, you'd only need to move the entire N001 folder to replace the new N001 folder in your Neighborhoods folder.

You may also want to cull your CC (if you have a lot) to only include those pieces you use a lot. Mod The Sims has some great tools to use to do this and it can check to see if the CC is corrupted or not as well.

Thanks for your help! I don't have much CC (but also don't know how much is considered a lot), but I'll go through it. Cheers!
