Re: No EA or Sims 2 folder

@Whoopsygo , when you download CC for Sims 2, the CC (unless otherwise noted by the creator) should show as the following formats ("CC name.sims2pack" or "CC name.package"). When you have the Aspyr Package Installer program loaded make sure it points directly to your Downloads folder in your Sims 2 folder. The Sims 2 files for the Mac are hidden in your Library folder instead of in the Documents folder.

To find your Library folder, click on your Desktop, find the "Go" command at the top in the Finder, hold your cursor button over Go and press the Option key on your keyboard at the same time and Library will show when you do that. Scroll through the Library folders until you find one called "com.aspyr.sims2.appstore" and open the folder. You should see two files in there and open the Data File. From there, locate another file named "Library" and then in that file you should should find another Aspyr folder which when opened will reveal the Sims 2 folder (exactly like the original game and on the Windows side). From there check to see if you have a folder named "Downloads" and if you do not, simply create one. This is where all your CC and Mods will be stored.

My advice is to organize your CC into categories within this folder once you get it up and running.

If your CC has the ".sims2pack" extension, you will have to use the Package Installer to "uncompress" the file to now show the ".Package" extension. All CC in the game must have the ".package" extension to run.

@Tremayne4260 What do you mean by point directly towards the downloads folder? There is no sims 2 downloads folder we can navigate so I'm not sure where to put the installer

@andrea1785 , you have to create a folder named Downloads and add it to your Sims 2 folder. Once you do that, then you can direct the Installer to put your CC there.

    Hi!

I have a MacBook Air and Sims 2 and I am having the exact same problem with not finding the EA folder. I found a folder with the same name (com.aspyr.sims2.appstore) but it was under "Application Scripts" in the "Library" in "Finder." Then when I clicked on it, there was nothing in it. Can you please help??!!!

    Thanks.

  • @ekw0906 , did you follow these instructions to find the correct folder?

To find your Library folder, click on your Desktop, find the "Go" command at the top in the Finder, hold your cursor button over Go and press the Option key on  your keyboard and Library will show when you do that.

And yes, Sims 2 Super Collection is found in the Library. 🙂

    Hello,

I was wondering if you could help me. I have followed your CC download instructions step by step (I have a MacBook Air btw) and my CC still isn't showing up anywhere on the game and I'm getting so frustrated and I'm not too sure what else to do.

    Thank you 🙂

@PeacefulSinn , did you check to see if the "Show CC in Game" option was checked on the opening screen? It pops up shortly before the Neighborhoods screen does.

    @PeacefulSinn

Please check if all CC has been installed in the correct locations. I have heard from some players that there might be different Sims 2 folders on Mac but the game only reads one.

To check what Sims 2 folder the game uses, load any neighborhood, and enter the cheat boolpropShowLotPackageFilename true. Once it is activated, hover over any lot with your mouse and it will tell you the file location of the lot and, with it, the location of your Sims 2 folder. Once you locate that folder, check if it is the one that you installed CC in. If not, then move it there into a Downloads folder.

Once that is done, make sure that, in game options, Catalogs Display Custom Content is enabled, and click on the Custom Content icon to enable mods as well. Restart the game and check if it shows up.

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for your comment. I did exactly what you told me to do and it still isn't working. I figured I would have to then put my downloads folder into my neighbourhood folder as that is what it said when I did the cheat. I could be doing this all wrong

@PeacefulSinn You seem to be in the correct location, but go a few folders back and place the Downloads folder directly in The Sims 2 folder. Sorry I wasn't more clear, I suggested the cheat to help locate the Sims 2 folder that the game uses.

  • Thank you for your reply 🙂 Ok so I put my downloads folder back into the original Sims 2 folder but to no avail, nothing I seem to do works. I even reinstalled the game itself to see if something went wrong in the installation process, but nope !! I'm just so confused and at a loss on what to do. I managed to install Sims 4 mods with no issue and now I'm just a bit stuck.

  • Also, this is what the inside of the download folder but I think everything looks ok?

@PeacefulSinn Just to double-check, did you extract the CC package files if it came in a zip/rar file? Many modders share them in those instead of just uploading package files, to save size. (EDIT: Ignore this since you posted another message while I was typing.)

And since TS2 Super Collection does not contain FreeTime and Apartment Life, the CC will not work if it requires any of those.

What kind of Mods/CC are you trying to install anyway?

@PeacefulSinn Writing this in a new message since it might be helpful. I have googled some of the CC from the screenshot and it looks like recolors of Maxis objects. For those to show up, you will need a mod called Color Enabler Package (CEP) by Numenor. It is available on Mod the Sims.

  • Oh my god you're a life saver. So, the recolours still aren't showing up but then I had the thought to download something that isn't a recolour and it worked!! So it was just me being a bit dumb all this time. Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it 🙂

  • There is one more question if you don't mind, do you know how to convert the package from a .rar?

@PeacefulSinn WinRar is a popular one, and I'm sure there are other tools too. I am pretty sure WinRar works on Mac.

@PeacefulSinn , I use Unarchiver which I googled to find the free version for the Mac. And I'm on a Mac myself and use it all the time.
