That's interesting, thanks for the info @Rianne30. I'd suggest trying to completely uninstall the base game, and install the game again. Could you try that?
It's better if you install the games through Origin than DVD in this case, as there's an update available that can only be installed in the digital version of the game š

Hi @Rianne30,
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure if I understand, where does it say you need to reinstall the base game?
The language in which you install the games shouldn't be a problem. Also, keep in mind that you need to install the base game and Pirates and nobles the same way, either both through Origin or both through DVD.
Thanks,
-Mai

I have the same problem, I've tried all the steps you proposed but the problem persists. I can play the game without the extension, but the extension just won't download at all. When I try to download it, the progress bar goes up a little and the goes back to zero.
I play on an acer aspire E15 on windows 10.

Hi @iamanargle,
Sorry for the wait, are you still having this issue?
If so, I would suggest checking you have enough space in your computer to download the expansion. Not having enough free space in your computer could be causing the issue.
If you do have enough free space, try to download Pirates and nobles in safe mode:
- Launch the Origin client and log in to your account.
- Click on your EA ID below your avatar.
- Click on Application Settings, then click on Diagnostics.
- Under Troubleshooting, toggle Safe mode downloading to On.
- Restart Origin, then try downloading your game again.
Let us know if that helps, and welcome to Answers HQ! š

I also have the same problem. These steps you say won't even work.
I tried every thing and I sometimes keep trying the things.
I also tried to install pirates and nobles and it went 100% without going to 0%
but then the download button keeps standing there.
And when I go into sims medieval it self the expansion pack isn't installed.
I tried again and this time the download button doesn't even respond anymore
but keeps standing there.
So i'm wondering if it worked or not.
I bought the deluxe edition on Origin.
I also have enough space on my laptop for the expansion.

Hi @stargirlvamp,
Please, try to repair the base game before trying to install Pirates & nobles again.
If that doesn't work, could you please tell us what you have tried so far so we don't suggest the same troubleshooting steps again? You are playing on Windows, right?
Thanks,
-Mai
- I already did repair and I also did an update many times. I already deleted and reinstalled everything. I did the Origin diagnostic thing. I deleted Origin and reinstalled Origin again. I bought a pirates and nobles code it was for 1 euro's, but it was the code only. The code did work but I still got the problem. The other things I tried didn't work.
I play on Windows 7.
Now I bought pirates and nobles phycial version, which I will get soon at a cheap price. I will install the CD to my laptop so I will be able to play it only when the disk is in my laptop. - EA_Mai8 years ago

Hi @stargirlvamp,
Sorry I don't have better news, but unfortunately, it's not possible to install the base game through Origin and the expansion pack through CD, as they are different versions. ā¹ļø
Let's not give up with Origin, ok? Could you close it completely, and open it again as an administrator? You would need to right click on the Origin shortcut and choose 'Run as administrator'.
If that doesn't work, I would try to boot my computer in Safe mode with networking, and try to install the game from there. Your computer will look really weird but don't worry, it would be just for the installation of the game. You have instructions on how to start your computer in Safe Mode here >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode
Please, let us know if that helps,
-Mai
I solved it, and yes the medieval version is through Origin
and the pirates and nobles that I bought is through CD
It fixed the problem that I have had by just installing the CD version of pirates and nobles
now it says that pirates and nobles within the deluxe edition is installed
and the download button doesn't show up anymore
I did this just by installing the CD version on my computer
now I finally unlocked pirates and nobles in the game
and I still can play medieval by just clicking on the medieval icon
without losing my save files
I finally can do the stuff from pirates and nobles

Strange, but I'm happy it worked, @stargirlvamp! š
Thanks for sharing the details of how you fixed it, someone might find this thread and your post very helpful in the future. I hope you enjoy the game!

We've bought the deluxe edition on origin, and suffer the same problem using windows 10, did all the steps as mentioned in this post, used administrator rights, we're stuck just as stargirlvamp, we do not own the CD we have it digitally only, so this problem is not yet solved.
we were able to download the pirates and nobles pack, agreed to the uela rights
then it showed up in download manager. but it remains there doing nothing.
the icon in origin keeps showing an addon pack is ready to install
it then mentiones it's not safe to play while stuff is downloading.
we also tried these steps as they worked for another user
So I somewhat fixed it (and I hope this can also help OP, even though it's a really long and dreary way to do it... literally sat entire day with this)
1. Uninstall The Sims Medieval
2. Copy all your games to desktop (just in case if Origin * up)
3. Uninstall Origin
4. Reinstall Origin5. Reinstall The Sims Medieval and when it asks if you wan't to install Pirates and Nobles too, click NO (or uncheck the box)
6. Wait for The Sims Medieval to finish downloading, then go to the "additional contents" tab and install Pirates and Nobles.
7. And that should fix it - did for me anyway, it seems to be some weird glitch with Origin.
Only catch with this is, that it'll delete all your saves and stuff. I hope that's not an issue, but it's the best (and only) solution I can think of right now.
we also removed the cache etc multiple times, rebooted the pc with every step.

Hi @DX3M,
Thanks for sharing that information. It's indeed a weird issue, I just installed the game in my Windows 10 computer without any issues. ā¹ļø Sorry you lost your save game in the process.
For anyone trying that in the future, to avoid your save games from being deleted when uninstalling the game, you can move The Sims Medieval folder from Documents > Electronic Arts to your Desktop before uninstalling the game.
Once installed again, just place the folder back.
Cheers,

i'm sorry but we didn't fix it, another user fixed HIS games, i just copy pasted it, to show what steps we have tried without success.
my girlfriend played to the medieval tutorial, and she got a message afterthat pirates and nobles was active INGAME
however: origin client doesn't seem to realize it. it keeps mentioning it's dangerous to play while stuff is downloading.
also if she starts the menu the icons for pirates and nobles are still locked
could you check on your computer if you start the medievel game, if you have the new options unlocked from pirates and nobles?
I have the same problem since I bought this game on Origin. When I download Pirates & Nobles, it does seem to download. When the download is finished and I press play, it says "Still downloading.. playing may affect the downloading progress".
I have tried every suggestion from this topic, contacted the chat 3 times today already, but all without any result. I'm kinda disappointed. Also, I noticed that a lot of people who encountered the same problem as me, are from either the Netherlands or Belgium. Couldn't there be a problem in the Dutch game version??

Hi @EvaLisahihi,
Let's try something different then!
- If you don't have base game installed, click on it to start the download, but make sure to uncheck the 'Pirates and nobles' box so it only installs the base game.
- Once the installation of the base game is done, right click on the game and select 'Properties'.
- In the small window that will appear, go to Advanced options (second tab) and change the language of the game to English. This process will download again the language files.
- Once the process finishes, go to Extra content tab and download the Pirates and nobles Expansion Pack.
- Once the pack is installed, repeat 2 and 3 to change the language to Dutch again.
That should help, let us know if it works for you š

It didn't work ā¹ļø , same thing still happens and I've got 10 GB left on my the drive (:C) I use for this game so I don't think that's the problem. Any other suggestions?

ā¹ļø Sorry to read that, @iamanargle.
In what language do you have your Origin program? Also Dutch?
If in Dutch, have you also tried this?: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-The-Sims-Games/Pirates-and-Nobles-won-t-download/m-p/6264719/highlight/true#M14256

I've had the same problem as described above. For me the workaround described by Mai worked.
I already installed the game twice today, nearly 12GB download in total. So I didn't uninstall and started at step 3. I changed language, installed P&N again, and switched language back. And it worked.
And yes, I also use the Dutch version of the game.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for letting us know it worked, and very good point, @atreya33, if the game is already installed there's no need to install it again. I'll add that to the steps, XP for you! š
