This is a real shame and such a let-down for long-term fans of the game. I hope they will reconsider. Has anyone started a petition?
@kafhudson , Many petitions have been started to remaster older Sims titles and EA/Maxis is very aware of the desire for these games. However, Maxis has chosen to use their time, resources and money for other projects.

Even though you can buy SimCity 3000 Unlimited
@pitthamb385 , if you have been active on this section as long as I have, I have seen TONS of petitions to bring the game back. I have asked and been told that there are no plans to bring these games back.
In regards to the original The Sims for the Mac OS, Mac players should contact Aspyr as they may or may not have the game code. The original game was ported to the Mac OS by a company called Westlake Interactive. I think (but am not 100% sure) they were either acquired by Aspyr or merged to become Aspyr. Yes, I am long time Sims player on the Mac and still have my original disks. I know for a fact that The Sims or Sims 2 disks will not run as they contain the code for an old chip no longer produced by Apple and will not work on newer Macs. Aspyr did port the complete Mac run of Sims 2 and that is the only digital version of Sims 2 still sold today.
