    The screen has started flickering again. 😞 I installed all of my other expansion packs, except for IKEA Home Stuff, Happy Holiday Stuff, Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff and FreeTime. I messed around with the settings, both on The Sims and Graphic Rules Maker, but nothing is working. Is there another solution? Thank you for all your help.

    @ShySnicker,

    Please try running the game in compatibility mode with Windows XP. To do it, right click on game's icon and select Propierties -> Compatibility. Also, try running the game as administrator right after setting the compibility with Windows XP (right click on the game's icon -> Run as Administrator)

    I've tried running it on compatibility mode, and it made things worse. Now whenever I try to load it, my Sims 2 launcher goes full screen, and messes everything up. ☹️ I don't think there's any hope for it playing on this PC, thank you for all your help.

    @ShySnicker,

    Let's try another thing just in case 😉 Go to Origin and right-click in The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection cover -> choose Propierties.

    In Propierties, go to Advanced Launch Settings and in the Command Line Arguments text field, plese add this: -w

    With this, the game will run in windowed mode and it may work a better 🙂

    I'll try, but how do I find Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on Origin? I can't find it anywhere.

    I went under my Game Library on Origin, and it said it's empty.

    @ShySnicker,

    Oh, excuse me but I think I got confused 😃 Did you install the game via a DVD, right?

    No problem. 🙂 Yes, I installed it by DVD.

    @ShySnicker,

    Okay, in that case right-click on The Sims 2 Double Deluxe icon and select Propierties. On the "Target" text field add a -w at the end, this will allow the game to run in windowed mode.

    Ok, I'll try this. I have to get it installed again, (I uninstalled it when I figured it wasn't going to work.) 🤔 So, once I get it all installed, I'll reply if it works. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes!

    I do have a question in the meantime though, if you don't mind answering it. 🙂

    When I tried to run the game, with all my expansion and stuff packs installed, the smooth edges option is greyed out and I can't do anything with it. I read that it's because the graphics card can't handle it. Would it be okay to attempt to play this game despite that? Because I read that overtime it can ruin the pc.

    @ShySnicker,

    Playing without the smoothing edge options can not ruin the PC. I don't who said that but that's not true, in fact playing with smooth edge off can actually make the game run faster under some circumstances. Anyway, if you use the program Graphic Rules Maker you can fix the smooth edge option and you'll be able to use it 🙂

    That's very good too hear!

    Putting the game on windowed mode seems to have done the trick! 🙂 It has finally stopped flicking, even with all of my expansions and stuff packs! I do have another expansion pack that will be coming in soon and some stuff packs left to order, but they shouldn't affect it, should it? I downloaded my latest one, Bon Voyage, and the water has started bleeding through the ground a little, but it's fine. 🙂

    Thank you so much for all your help!!

    @ShySnicker,

    If you install new packs, you might need to apply the same workarounf to the latest pack icon 😉

    Do you mean I will have to adjust or change the settings on the graphic rule maker or game settings?

    @ShySnicker,

    Maybe, and also the windowed mode workaround, as different packs have different setting and different files that need to be modified.

    Alright. 🙂 Thank you again for all your help. If I have any more problems (Hopefully not!) I will be back.

    A new problem has occurred. 😞 I got my Sims 2 FreeTime expansion pack and tried to download it, but it gets to 50% before saying: "A problem has occurred when trying to transfer the file 'EA:\TSBin\Sims2EP7.exe' from the media. Do you want to retry or cancel installation?". I clicked retry and I get the same message. I cleaned the disc and nothing has changed. Any suggestions? Or will I need to buy a new disc?

    @ShySnicker,

    Sounds like a damaged disc. As you have lots of The Sims 2 Original games, I'd suggest contacting an EA Advisor, they might be able to add The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (The Sims 2 + All Expansion Packs + All Stuff Packs) for free to your Origin account. Buying a new The Sims 2 Hobbies DVD in 2017 will be much difficult sadly
